Elton Consulting recently worked with the NSW Lifetime Care and Support Authority to develop a discussion paper exploring interim accommodation models for people severely injured in motor accidents. These accommodation models need to be feasible for delivery by the Authority and able to meet the changing care and support needs of Lifetime Care and Support Scheme participants.
Elton Consulting undertook a detailed review of relevant literature and approaches taken in other jurisdictions in Australia and internationally, to consider leading practice models and their feasibility and applicability in the NSW context. In the context of the roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the project also identified emerging market responses to accommodation options for people with disability.
The process involved close consultation with key stakeholders from government and the disability services, community housing and health sectors, through a series of interviews and facilitated stakeholder workshops.
The research and consultation outcomes were used to develop practical and supported options for consideration by the NSW Lifetime Care and Support Authority.
