The Green Paper has now been released for public consultation until 20 July 2018.
An important first step in much needed planning reform. There is nothing more important to our industry than a contemporary, efficient and transparent planning system.
An important aspect of the approach taken in the Green Paper is that it has drawn on the recent experiences and lessons learnt from reform in other jurisdictions- particularly Victoria, Queensland and NSW. Significantly, there is nothing in the key elements of the proposed reforms that hasn’t been tested elsewhere.
Elton Consulting has been heavily involved in the reform process in NSW both in the role of advice to Government, conducting engagement with key stakeholders. We are currently working with the NT government on the early stages of its planning reform process.
The ultimate success of the reforms will turn on Community and Industry acceptance, the implementation strategy and the State agencies organisational capacity to respond to its challenges.
Congratulations to Evan Jones, Principal of the WA Planning System Review (pictured above) and his team on the work undertaken to prepare the Green Paper.
Elton Consulting, along with Veris Australia were proud to be the co-sponsors of the UDIA WA Member Briefing last night in Perth and we look forward to working with the UDIA and members to deliver outstanding new communities and working environments.
