Chris Larsen has extensive experience as a communications professional, holding senior leadership roles in the property and agriculture sectors, and is an experienced journalist. His experience within the property sector has focused on communications and media management, campaigns and strategy, issues and crisis management, and content management and publishing.
Chris previously worked at Cotton Australia, the peak body for the country’s cotton industry, where he was Communications Manager. In that role he created and led communications strategy and planning for the organisation and the industry, engaged key stakeholder groups, and supported the organisation’s core policy objectives. He also provided media training and guidance to Board members and staff, and led all outward communications activities.
Key achievements included growing media hits by more than 200% while maintaining positive coverage, growing social media engagement by more than 600%, and managing the organisation’s communications responses to key social licence issues, including water use and regulation.
Previously, Chris was Director of Publishing & Communications for the Property Council of Australia, the peak body for Australia’s property development and management sector. In this role he advised the organisation’s national business unit on communications strategy and crisis management, created and implemented communications strategy, published the organisation’s national magazine and managed the organisation’s national communications team.
Key achievements included the successful launch of new online communications products and winning the Bell Awards’ B2B Magazine of the Year. Prior experience was as a journalist for News Limited and Fairfax, specialising in property.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Australian & Comparative Studies from Griffith University.
