Camden Council is one of the fastest growing areas in NSW. Council embarked on this project to provide a framework for the organisational change required to meet the challenges created by this significant population growth. It involved preparing strategies and actions to guide organisational development and business improvement, as well as a comprehensive review of the organisational structure.
As part of the project, we consulted with almost a third of Council staff, including 10 discussion groups with staff, interviews with all managers and directors, and a series of workshops with the Senior Management and Executive Management Teams. We also undertook a review of organisational and business improvement frameworks that help organisations achieve high performance.
This rigorous process resulted in the focus areas recommended in the report and associated organisational structure building adopted by Council in full. The new structure has been implemented, and we are further assisting Council in delivering some of the priority actions identified in the plan.
