Canterbury Community and Cultural Facilities Strategy

Client:The former City of Canterbury

The former City of Canterbury engaged Elton Consulting to review existing community and cultural facilities and prepare a strategy to provide direction for their future development over the next 20 years.

The Strategy was based upon comprehensive analysis of current supply and demand for facilities, assessment of likely future requirements, and consideration for development trends and population growth. The Strategy focused on how best use can be made of existing facilities through specific upgrading, expansion, re-use or redevelopment where shortfalls are identified. It also considered needs and opportunities for new facilities.

The Strategy will be used to inform the development of a new Development Contributions Plan for the new City of Canterbury-Bankstown. It will also help establish a nexus between anticipated development and facility requirements and provide evidence based costings and recommendations regarding the timing of proposed capital works.
