Elton Consulting supported Hobsons Bay City Council to run a community co-design process to design a new Community Leaders for Sustainability Program. The program sought to support emerging sustainability leaders to become local sustainability champions who are confident and competent in engaging their communities to affect environmental outcomes.
Elton Consulting designed and facilitated three workshops with community leaders using a range of deliberative, participatory and co-design methods. The workshop series was highly effective with leaders identifying the need for a new model for sustainability leadership in Hobsons Bay. It was a model that redefined the understanding of sustainability, climate change, leadership and formal programs, and one that supported the whole needs of individuals.
Building on outcomes of the workshops, Elton Consulting crafted the framework for a sustainability ecosystem; a collective of people and a program of formal and informal events that focuses on community forming, climate change action, self-development, empowerment and collaboration.
