Yolk Property Group, on behalf of the WA Department of Communities, was selected to develop the former Kinlock Primary School site into Allure Estate in Ferndale.
Elton Consulting designed, managed and delivered the community engagement for this project including:
» direct engagement with immediate neighbours (door knocking)
» meetings with key stakeholders
» developing and publishing communications materials including for the project website
» facilitation of a community workshop attended by 70 members of the local community.
In addition, our team also worked with the project partners to design a survey to better understand the community’s values about the neighbourhood and their aspirations for the School site. Elton Consulting was responsible for conducting data analysis including coding (grouping open-ended responses into themes) of 100 survey submissions, which were submitted through the project’s website.
A project plan was put in place to manage engagement within project timeframes and budget. The community project was successful, mitigating and minimising social risks by listening to and acknowledging stakeholder and community concerns. This assisted the project team to develop positive, long-term relationships with the community and key stakeholders.
Ultimately, the community engagement delivered supported the broader project objectives and outcomes sought through its successful delivery. An engagement outcomes report was developed from the initial engagement activities to inform the project team as they continued working through the planning and design process.
